| Jewish/Muslim Comedy at Rice |
 |
|
"Comedy's Odd Couple" of Rabbi Bob
Alper and Muslim Azhar Usman
packed the Baker College Commons at Rice
University for an evening of laughter. The
event was envisioned by Rabbi Kenny Weiss,
who secured the bulk of the funding from
Rice University's Boniuk Center for the
Study of Religious Tolerance. Houston
Hillel's students worked as cosponsors with
Rice University's Muslim Student
Association, enabling the program to be
the first held under the Boniuk Center's
Bridge Builders Initiative, which suppports
religious events put on by cross-faith campus
groups.
In the photo at top are Lauren
Henderson, Rice Hillel President, and
Zabeena Merchant, a member of the
Muslim Student Association's student board.

| Houston Hillel/ZBT Float at Israel Parade |
 |
|
The newly formed ZBT chapter at the
University of Houston came through with a
tremendous effort on behalf of ZBT and
Houston Hillel when they crafted a float for
Houston's Israel @ 60 Parade. The float's
theme expressed the Temple in Jerusalem, and
placed ZBT and Hillel among other Jewish
organizations in Houston that gathered for
Israel's 60th. Houston Hillel also held a
bone marrow donor registration drive during
the Israel @ 60 festival that followed the
parade.
Pictured on the float are Rina Singer,
Simon Simani, Sam Kronman, Leon
Trackhtenberg, Paul Brokhim, Michael Kronman,
and Hadar Huber.
