Museums

Museum District – Virtually all of Houston’s museums are within walking

     distance of each other, and only a fifteen minute walk from Houston Hillel!

Here are a couple, shall we say, different museums.

National Museum of Funeral History – Very cool with a great gift shop!

Orange Show – including the Art Car Museum and the Beer Can House.

 

Parks and Recreation

Discovery Green – An amazing urban park

Memorial Park – The most popular running trail in Houston

Hermann Park – A ten minute walk from Houston Hillel

Buffalo Bayou – A great place to walk and bike

Braes Bayou – A 15 mile bike trail that ends at the University of Houston

Rice Running Loop – A few blocks from Houston Hillel

Houston Marathon and Half-Marathon

 

Professional Sports Teams

The Texans football team plays in NRG Stadium, which has hosted two Super Bowls!

The Astros baseball team plays in Minute Maid Park.

The Rockets basketball team plays in the Toyota Center, which is also a great place for concerts.

The Dynamo soccer team plays in its own stadium, the BBVA Compass Stadium.

About 50,000 Jews live in greater Houston. Houston’s Jewish community is very close and cooperative. The various Jewish movements, synagogues and agencies work together. As the fourth largest city in the US, many national and international Jewish organizations have regional offices in Houston.

 

Jewish Federation of Greater Houston

Reform Synagogues: Congregation Emanu El (just a few blocks from Houston Hillel), Congregation Beth IsraelTemple SinaiHouston Congregation for Reform Judaism.

Conservative Synagogues: Beth Yeshurun (the largest Conservative synagogue in the US), Brith ShalomOr Ami.
